Materials from the GABA-Symposium „Sensitive teeth – breakthrough technology for in-office-treatment“. Over 200 participants and 30 journalists discussed the new technology at April 16, 2010 in Berlin, Germany.
Prof. Dr. Lars G. Petersson, Central Hospital, Halmstadt, Schweden
Prof. Petersson induced the Symposium with a presentation of epidemiology and aetiology of sensitive teeth. The so-called “hydrodynamic theory” of the Swedish researcher Brännström is nowadays said to be accepted as the main mechanism of dentine hypersensitivity.
Prof. Hirsch spoke about the need to describe oral diseases not only from a purely professional point of view, but from the point of view of those affected. This subjective view of oral disease can be recorded with instruments for measuring the oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL).
Bärbel Kiene, Graduate Biochemist, GABA International AG
Bärbel Kiene described the insufficiency of the current ways of treatment of acute dentine hypersensitivity. She presented an innovative technology as a useful addition to the treatment options for dentine hypersensitivity in the dental practice.
